Guidelines for Screen Printed Apparel

Majestic Screen Prince Artwork

Majestic Screen Prince are used for: Multi colour screen printing on any colour of clothing. We use durable Plastisol Ink. We also use our own inhouse developed curing process called Majestic Smooth. This process eliminates the rough texture of the screen printed image, leaving a smooth, soft to the touch logo. Minimum order is 12 items.

We use PCs. The software programs Adobe Illustrator (.ai), CorelDraw (cdr.)and Adobe Photoshop (.psd) are our primary graphics programs.
All other graphics must be saved in EPS or TIFF format.
When sending files be sure spot and process colors are saved accordingly and the image is in high resolution (300ppi or better).
Web art is not suitable for printing because it is saved in RGB color and low resolution (72ppi).
If you are sending art to be used for Majestic Screen Prince, we prefer vector type files.
These are files that have been created in programs like Adobe Illustrator and are usually saved out as an EPS file.
Make sure to convert all text to OUTLINES, as this will eliminate having to send us any font files.
Simply selecting the text and choosing the "Create Outlines" selection under the "Type" menu can do this.
It is very important that you do this, as we may not have your fonts on any of our computers.
If you are using another graphics program, please make sure all fonts are converted to "curves" or "outlines".
Be sure spot color art is saved in spot, not CMYK or RGB, color.
Be careful when sending camera-ready artwork that includes halftone screens - screen rulings suitable for offset (paper & magazine) printing is usually unsuitable for screen-printing.
If sending halftone images, keep in mind our maximum lines per inch (lpi) capability for printing on garments is 55 lines per inch.
Camera-Ready Art: Bitmap (.tiff, or .psd files) artwork for screen printing on garments should be saved at 300dpi.
Ideally, the art will be saved precisely sized to the imprint area specifications of the item that will be imprinted.
Black and white line art should be scanned at least at 600 d.p.i.
Line art drawings are best if sent to us in vector format. (Adobe Illustrator or Adobe .pdf formats.)

Vector vs. Raster
Vector Illustrator = ai / pdf / eps based files Made up of a series of individual shapes, lines and text.
Can be separated more easily when multiple colours are used.
Can be scaled up and down with no loss in quality.
Overlapping shapes of the same colour must be merged (joined).
Vector files are always our first preference.

Raster Photoshop = psd / pdf / jpeg / png<br /> Made up of a series of dots (pixels) DPI = dots per inch i.e. the more dpi the better quality = the more dots per inch.
Each colour must be supplied on individual layers in Photoshop so colour separation is more effective.
Scaling can reduce quality as the pixels are enlarged i.e. edges may become fuzzy/blurry and is then termed “pixelated”.
No smaller than 300dpi. This can be determined by taking note of the file size in terms of MB i.e. a 300dpi file will be at least 1Mb.
Anything in kb is generally not clear enough.
Canvas size must be cropped to just outside the image so there is limited ‘unused’ space around image.
Png files to be supplied with background removed.
Creating your stencil for ScreenPrince is a $5.00 fee.

Images from a Digital Camera
Before taking pictures make sure your camera is set at a high enough resolution to result in 150dpi at the intended photo print size. (see below for recommended size/pixels) You cannot increase the resolution of a photo after it has been taken.

Images from a Scanner
Same as a digital camera, a scanner must be preset to the proper resolution before imaging. Set your scanners resolution to minimum 150dpi at the image’s final print out. (see below for the recommended size/pixels).

Images from the Web
Images on the web are typically at a resolution of 72dpi. This resolution is too low for printing. Additionally most images on the web are protected by copyright laws. We do not recommend using images from the web.

Image size and resolution
Minimum 150dpi is recommended, 300dpi is better. For each inch of your design add 150 pixels, example 4”x4” = 600x600 pixels, 12”x14” = 1800x2100 pixels. Higher resolution images will have better results! If you fail to follow the minimum recommendations your image quality will be distorted or pixaled and Deihs Designs will not be responsible for poor printing quality.

Example Resolution of our Products:
Left Chest/Hat 2”x3” = 300x450 pixels
Full Front 8”x10” = 1200x1500 pixels

Please note: if you submit a design that is 4”w x 6”h but enter into our designer a size of 4”w x 4”h, we will adjust your image to the size on the order and your design may become distorted. Your design should be the size or dimensions of the actual print size.

Do you have color matching?
As we continue to receive artwork in various formats and color separations; we feel it is our responsibility to inform you of some potential color matching variables involved in the printing process.

As all monitors are calibrated differently, the color outputted on your monitor does not accurately depict the color of your finished product.
As Deihs Designs uses a CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) printing process; conversions from the RGB and color palettes can result in perceptible color variation.
Jpeg and Bitmap images are susceptible to color change when printing, as color changes cannot be made to these file types.
A color proof is available at a charge of $4.00 for orders requiring exact color matching. An additional business day will be added to the production (Shipping charges will apply).
If you require color matching, please call customer service to place your order. Toll Free 1-877-735-5053 Local 905-735-5053

Do I need a proof?
You have the option of requesting a proof free of charge. We will output a .jpg of your design and email you an approval form.
When will my Majestic SuperSoft Prince order ship?
Orders with approved artwork, under 20 sq/in and less than 250 pieces or orders over 20 sq/in and under 100 pieces, will ship in 14 working days if placed by 10am. For example: if you place an order for Majestic CAD-Prince by 10am and do not require a proof or art assistance your order will ship in 14 working days. Cutting Specifications

Cutting digital logos require the designs to follow cutting specifications. The line thickness of the design must be at least .10 thick to cut and cavities must be .10. The spacing between non-connected objects must be .05. For example:

If your file does not match these cutting specifications don’t worry! We’ll adjust your artwork accordingly.

Contour Cut Line
We will automatically add a contour cut line to your design. You have the option of selecting a white contour cut line or bleed your outside color.

We will add a minimum of a .05 contour around the following designs:

Designs with complex borders.
Designs with a border less than .05.
Raster artwork. (limited to colors, unless it has a transparency)
When the design border becomes the cut line, the color needs to be bleed off of the design. We will bleed the following designs:

Raster designs with simple borders that have a minimum .05 edge.
Vector designs that meet the cutting specifications.

Guidelines for Embroidered Apparel

Majestic Stitch Prince Artwork

This is an Embroidery Stitch based application good for fine quality, durable, low contrast logos on any colour of clothing.
Prices are based on the number of stitches not the number of colours. Minimum order is 12 items
Artwork that is intricate, has fine details or shading is unsuitable.
If you have a digitized embroidery file already such as a .dst, your artwork is ready to be sent to the embroidery machines for output.
If you do not have an embroidery file, we will have to create one from your submitted artwork.
Vector format is preferable.
We can also digitize from a raster file.
Vector formats permit greater accuracy when digitizing a design.
PMS colour will be converted to most appropriate colour available. Every PMS colour can not be held as a thread colour, but where possible we match as close as we can. Artwork is to be supplied at actual size. Please contact us if you require further information regarding appropriate dimensions of artwork for specific garment areas. Can you help me with my artwork?
